WORKSHOP ON COMPETING WITH SELF FOR EXCELLENCE

A workshop on Competing with self for excellence was arranged for the students of SIMCS to groom their mentality in the competition world on 18 sept 2012. The expert guest was Dr. Mr. H.B.L. Vohra. Dr. Vohra has travelled to many countries and has delivered guest lectures and workshop around the world many times.

The lecture began in presence of the worthy Principal Swift Institute of Management & Computer Science Dr. Jaskaran Singh Dhillon, Faculty members & students of MBA (Sem1 & 3), BBA (Sem1 & 3), B.Com (Sem1 & 3), and B.Com (professional Sem-1)
Principal Dr.Jaskaran Singh Dhillon, introduced the expert speaker Dr. Vohra to the audience and also gave details of the work and experience of the speaker. Dr. Vohra started the workshop by giving an introduction of the subject "Competing with self for excellence" During the workshop, he brought to notice, some very important points on grooming self for excellence which gave students a new thought and idea to groom themselves. He presented a slide show through which the meanings and required information was made more clear. He started the workshop by sharing a thought that "Life is a taxi and the meter is running, whether you are going anywhere or not"

This thought gave an idea of the workshop to the students and also made the theme of the workshop clear beforehand. The next point during the workshop was to tell the students the importance of the target/ goal in life. Dr. Vohra told the students that the target and the goals are of two types: long term goals and short term goals. He also told that the long term goals are based on the short term goals only and so all of must have a certain goal in life to be successful and gain excellence. He focused that the students must Plan, implement, monitor and check them time to time.

Then, the students were given a task to compare themselves with their motivator /idol. This task was helpful for students to understand where they lack behind and need to focus more. They were told to repeat the task daily to be closer to success. The students liked the task and understood the important of self competing. Dr. Vohra ended the workshop by asking the students about their queries on the topic. A few students asked their questions and they were answered accordingly. The workshop came to its end with a beautiful thought.

"Every job is a self-portrait of the person who did it. Autograph your work with excellence." In the end, Dr. Jaskaran Singh Dhillon came to the lecture stand and thanked Dr.Vohra for sharing his valuable thoughts with the students and faculty of Swift Institute of Management and Computer Science.
