Swift Institute of Nursing (SION), a constituent of SWIFT GROUP OF COLLEGES (SGOC), organized Guest lecture on "Basic Concepts in Spine Care" on 22 Feb 2012. A very commendable & knowledgeable lecture was delivered by our honourable chief guest "Dr. P.S.V. Parsad" who is a renewed Orthopedic and spine Consultant from South End University Hospital, UK.

Dr. P.S.V. Parsad elaborated about the various concepts related to spinal care- which comprised of anatomy, physiology, common problems, diagnostic techniques, complications, red alerts, and management, prevention and nursing concerns related to spinal cord problems. This interactive session inculcated lot of interest among the students & also enhanced their knowledge in this aspect. His refined knowledge & experience cleared all practical doubts of students pertaining to spinal cord issues.

Swift institute of nursing ,Ghaggar Sarai Rajpura organized an awareness rally in the Ghaggar Sarai on the occasion of World Cancer day on 4th February, 2012. The rally was flagged off by Dr. Saroj Parwez (Director- Principal, Swift Institute of Nursing) and Brig. G. J. Singh (General Manager, Swift Group of Colleges). The theme for World Cancer Day, year 2012 was "TOGETHER IT IS POSSIBLE".

The Principal emphasized on the message that together it is possible to fight against Cancer. Health education was delivered by students regarding various aspects of cancer i.e. its causes, signs & symptoms, prevention and treatment to the people gathered at the Anganwadi center of Ghaggar Sarai. banners and posters were also used to deliver the information regarding cancer. The rally was highly appreciated by the village sarpanch S. Tarlok Singh as well as the village residents.

This expert lecture was delivered by Vice Chancellor Of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Prof.S.S.Gill. He shared his practical experience and Knowledge and thus motivated our students to work ethically keeping in consideration the moral value.
