Safe Motherhood day (11th April 2013)


Swift Institute of Nursing has organized a Health Mela on the occasion of Safe Motherhood day (11th April 2013) at PHC, Kauli. An antenatal checkup was done by the students of M.Sc.(N).

During the mela Blood pressure monitoring, Anthropometric assessment was done, Health education on the topics; antenatal care, breastfeeding, newborn care was given to the expectant mothers with the help of poster exhibition and various videos.

Dr Saroj Parwez (Principal, SION) has interacted with the mothers and emphasized the need of quality antenatal care and institutional deliveries to minimize the maternal and newborn morbidity & mortality. Program ended with vote of thanks and fruit distribution to the participants.

World Leprosy Eradication Day


January 30th is observed as World Leprosy Eradication Day. On the day a community outreach programme was organized by Swift Institute of Nursing, Rajpura to support the lepers of Dr. Khushdeva Singh Leprosy Society, Tafzalpura, Patiala.

The programme was conducted under the able guidance of Dr. (Mrs) Saroj Parwez and was coordinated by Community Health Nursing Department. Students of M.Sc. Nursing II year and Post B.sc. Nursing (I and II year participated in the outreach programme.

In order to promote healthy living among the members of the leprosy society a PowerPoint presentation was done by M.Sc. students. They were distributed medicines provided by Ind-Swift Pharmaceutical company- the parent organization of SGOC.

Interactive session was conducted in which the inhabitants of the society shared their experiences with staff and students.

Students visited the residential area of the complex to get the better idea of their lifestyle. The programme ended with distribution of fruits and eatables to the inhabitants.

National Pulse Polio Campaign from 24th to 26th Feb 2013


GNM 1st Year and GNM Internship students of Swift Institute of Nursing participated in National Pulse Polio Campaign from 24th to 26th Feb 2013 & volunteered themselves for this esteemed service.

The service was catered to all infants & children below the age of five in Rajpura, Ambala & adjoining places. The efforts of students were highly commendable & appreciated by medical officer of Civil Hospital Rajpura and Ambala.
