The degree will be provided by the Coventry University, UK Coventry University, UK triumphed at the Times Higher Education Awards on 24th November, 2011 winning both the significant accolade of Entrepreneurial University of the Year and, with Loughborough University, the award for Outstanding Support for Students for the work of the Sigma Maths Centre led by Professor Duncan Lawson, the O2 Chair of STEM Education in the Faculty of Engineering and Computing.
PUNJAB TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY WINS THE e-INDIA 2010 AWARDS No. 1 ICT Enabled University of the Year No. 1 Open and Distance Learning Initiative of the Year Punjab Technical University (PTU) was established by an act of State Legislature on 16th Jan-1997, to promote Technical, Management and Pharmaceutical education in the state at the Degree level and above. The University has the mandate to set up centres of Excellence in Emerging Technologies and for promoting Training, Research and Development in these areas. One of the main focus of the University at this time is in the area of professional skill oriented technologies to the masses. The University has undertaken the task of training students to help in the development of skilled manpower in this sector in the country in general and in the state particular. Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar, has won two eINDIA 2010 awards given by the Department of Information Technology, Government of India. The awards were given at a function organised at the Hyderabad International Conventional Centre. The awards acknowledge and felicitate unique and innovative initiatives in the use of information and communication technology (ICT) for development in diverse domains — e-Governance, digital learning, e-health, e-agriculture — through a two-way process of jury evaluation and public voting. Out of the 448 nominations received by e-INDIA, 26 were put up online for the public to vote. The entry receiving the maximum number of votes was declared the winner under the e-India Citizen Choice Award.
